A novel scheme to acquire enhanced up-conversion emissions of Ho3+ and Yb3+ co-doped Sc2O3

A detailed investigation about the effect of Sc₂O₃: 1 mol%Ho³⁺/5 mol%Yb³⁺ co-doped with Ce⁴⁺ ions prepared by sol-gel methods was performed systematically. Under the excitation of 980 nm laser diode, both green emission (553 nm, ⁵F₄/⁵S₂→⁵I₈) and red emission (672 nm, ⁵F₅→⁵I₈) were both observed in the emission spectra of the samples, which were found to be two-photon process and sensitized by Yb³⁺ ions. With the increasing of Ce⁴⁺ ions, the up-conversion green emission intensity are increased by 6.52, 8.69, 10.85, 13.92 and 16.66 fold, corresponding to the Ce⁴⁺ ions concentrations from 5 mol% to 13 mol%, respectively. The number of photons are necessary to populate the upper emitting state decreases to 2 and the infrared absorption coefficient is reduced, when the Ce⁴⁺ ions concentration increase to 13 mol%. Ce⁴⁺ ions play an important role in tailoring the local crystal field around Ho³⁺ ions, lowering the highest phonon cut-off energy of matrix and reducing the infrared absorption coefficient, thus hindering the non-radiative processes, which contribute to the increased emission intensity. The excellent enhancement makes it a promising multifunctional optical luminescence material.     

Microextraction of metal ions based on solidification of a floating drop: Basics and recent updates

This review provides a comprehensive evaluation of solidified floating organic drop microextraction (SFODME) procedures for metal ions preconcentration and their contributions to green chemistry. In this article we focused on the modifications that have been performed in the recent years to improve this environmentally friendly procedure. Among the most important of these modifications are the inclusion of ultrasonic energy, vortex and air agitation to enhance the dispersion process. The article also discussed new challenges in the procedure by using more ecofriendly solvents as extractants such as ionic liquids, deep eutectic. and supramolecular solvents. The coupling of SFODME with solid phase extraction increases selectivity and efficiency of the preconcentration procedure.     

Negative compressibility property in hinging open-cell Kelvin structure

A new three-dimensional(3 D) cellular model based on hinging open-cell Kelvin structure is proposed for its negative compressibility property. It is shown that this model has adjustable compressibility and does exhibit negative compressibility for some certain conformations. And further study shows that the images of compressibility are symmetrical about the certain lines, which indicates that the mechanical properties of the model in the three axial directions are interchangeable and the model itself has a certain geometric symmetry. A comparison of the Kelvin model with its anisotropic form with the dodecahedron model shows that the Kelvin model has stronger negative compressibility property in all three directions.Therefore, a new and potential method to improve negative compressibility property can be derived by selecting the system type with lower symmetry and increasing the number of geometric parameters.     

Sm3+掺杂稀土硼酸盐玻璃的光谱参数计算和荧光光谱分析

制备了具有高效可见荧光发射的Sm3 掺杂稀土硼酸盐(LBLB)玻璃,对玻璃的吸收和荧光光谱展开了测试与分析.根据Judd-Ofelt理论对吸收光谱进行了拟合,求得Sm3 离子的晶场调节参数Ωt=(2,4,6)分别为6.81×10-20,4.43×10-20和2.58×10-20 cm2,并进一步计算出各能级跃迁的谱线强度、自发辐射跃迁概率、辐射寿命和荧光分支比等光谱参数.紫外光激发下,Sm3 掺杂LBLB玻璃发出明亮的橙红色光.激发光谱表明,氩离子激光器是Sm3 掺杂LBLB玻璃有效的激发光源.     

光纤光栅的温度补偿

提出了一种简单、小型的光纤光栅温度补偿器件，将光纤光栅粘贴在具有负热膨胀系数的材料上，实现了光纤光栅的温度补偿。该器件在-20～44℃温度范围内光栅波长变化0.08m，是未补偿光纤光栅的1／8。     

Highlights and Prospects of Hyperspherical Approach in Few-Body Quantum-Mechanical Systems

The binding energy of excitonium negative ion for ground ¹S-state in bulk conductors: Ge, Si, CdSe and for green and yellow lines of Cu₂O in hyperspherical coordinate method are found. Angular and radial correlations between electrons are taken into account by the channel functions, which are the eigen-functions of operator on the surface of sphere in six-dimensional sphere. The calculation of energies have been done using the adiabatic and Born-Oppenheimer approximations. In Born-Oppenheimer approximation is enough to give a binding energy with only 1.2% error, in adiabatic approximation this error drops to 0.7 %.     

Influence of the Type of a Ligand on the Intensity of Luminescence of Ln3+ Ions in Aqueous Solutions

The luminescence characteristics of hydrated Ln³⁺ ions and their complexes with some acidic ligands have been investigated. The possibility of determining the stability of the complexes of lanthanides in solutions from the intensity of luminescence bands is shown. The influence of the characteristic features of the f-electron shell of Ln³⁺ on the formation of the spectrochemical series is discussed.     

Quantum Properties of Odd Excited Negative Binomial States of the Radiation Field

The odd excited negative binomial states are introduced using the photon creation operator by repeated application on negative binomialstates. These states interpolate between the odd displaced Fock states and the odd excited pure thermal states. In this paper both squeezing phenomena (normal squeezing and amplitude squared squeezing) are discussed. Besides discussion of the Glauber second-order correlation function, investigations are carried out for the quasi-probability distribution functions (Wigner function and Q-function). Finally the Pegg-Barnett phase probability distribution is computed for these states.
